However, it is not an easy transition.  Our panelists will discuss childhood trauma, share stories of healing and provide helpful resources. There will be time for Q & A.  This educational program is intended for adults including those recovering from childhood trauma and their family and friends as well as those who are working in or studying for careers in health care, mental health, education, research and policy.

Anosognosia and Serious Mental Illnesses
Recorded on May 10, 2023

“Anosognosia” refers to a disorder that affects millions. Do you know what the word means? Anosognosia means an "absence of knowing". It is believed to affect up to 90 percent of people with psychosis-related Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and prevents them from knowing they are sick. Learn how Anosognosia affects a person with SMI and can lead to: refusal to take medication; family discord/rupture; incarceration; illicit drug use; and homelessness. Content will be helpful to families, providers, mental health professionals, law enforcement, public officials and others who interact with individuals living with serious mental illnesses.
